Azurite 'sun' : Malbunka Copper Mine, N. Territories, Australia
Malbunka Copper Mine
small cab: 78 x 42 x 25mm 70gms
A classic and emmediately recognisable specimen of these unique flattened discs of azurite embedded in a kaolinite matrix from the Malbunka Copper mine.
These extraordinary bright azure blue discs, or 'suns' as they are occasionally known, look striking against that creamy white background and never fail to impress.
An eyecatching specimen, showing the main sun and with several smaller 'satellite suns. The largest disc / sun is approximately 28mm across.
